Mattel has added a brand-new Role Models Doll to its Barbie collection: tennis sensation Naomi Osaka. According to the producer, Mattel, the Barbie, which stars the four-time Grand Slam champion in her 2020 Australian Open attire, sold out in a matter of hours after they released it on Monday for $29.99 a case.

The Naomi Osaka doll, designed by Carlyle Nuera, wears a Nike outfit identical to what she wore during the 2020 Australian Open, besides Nike sneakers, a visor, and a copy of her Yonex tennis racquet.

“I hope every child is reminded that they can be and do anything,” Osaka wrote on Twitter, expressing her gratitude for the partnership.

According to the description on Barbie’s website. “Known for using her platform to speak out about issues surrounding human rights and racial injustice, Naomi is a force, on and off the court,” the blueprint reads.

The Naomi Osaka Barbie has sold out ‘because of high demand,’ and there’s been no confirmation of the restock.
