How Shell India honoured its front line employees for their 400+ days of resilience and perseverance

In 2020, the world faced an unprecedented situation where nobody understood what to do. People and businesses started questioning themselves about how to function since everything seemed uncertain. However, the frontline workers never gave up and remained to provide safe places outside our homes.

Whether it was gas station orderlies or store representatives, these saints of the road greeted us with a heartwarming smile at the back of their masks whenever we needed anything.

Shell India has created a beautifully blended film that highlights some of their real living legends who have ensured that we continue to move ahead despite adversity in order to highlight the undying determination of those frontline troops.

The film features real heroes, like Manjula Choudki, a customer service champion who serviced customers despite her disability during the pandemic. Manjula describes how she became anxious that she had finished managing many customers and dreaded having to end her job and return to her hometown.

A forecourt manager, Kishan Boricha, gushed as he spoke about the less fortunate no longer having enough to eat. He describes how he and his partners would ride their motorcycles with tiffins and feed those in need.

The experience had become overwhelming, not only for the employees but also for the customers. When people became hesitant to lower their car’s windows, conversing with them became a test for the frontliners. Every morning, site chiefs would provide safety briefings to educate faculty for acceptable customer-collaboration approaches, ensuring that everyone felt safe and was fully focused during such trying times.

It’s been more than a year since the global health crisis first hit the planet, but despite the fact that the rest of the world came to a halt, the front line service champs didn’t stop. Indeed, even on the cloudiest of days, their essence streamed through for the most part.
