Instagram, which Facebook Inc owns, announced on Tuesday that it will offer to showcase and to advertise on its Shop feature globally, as it strives to rake in more cash from brands hoping to attract new customers.
Instagram Shop is a section of the photo and video-sharing app where users can browse items such as apparel and beauty products and, in some cases, purchase them directly from within the app.
Customers can click on an Instagram Shop ad to gain more information, look for additional items from the brand, or add them to their shopping list.
The social-media company kicked off testing the ads ahead of time with a few advertisers this month, but the feature is now available to brands worldwide anywhere Instagram Shop is accessible.
