Ladakh now has its first wandering/moving cinema, with PictureTime Digiplex installing an inflatable theatre within the association zone to deliver cinematic delight to far-flung locations. The theatre is located at an elevation of 11,562 feet, according to Digiplex, reputing to be the world’s highest altitude cinema.
A moving theatre, located at an elevation of 11,562 ft, is introduced in Leh.
In the Paldan area of Leh, the inflatable arena was turned into a set-up. Thupstan Chewang, president of the Ladakh Buddhist Association, became the event’s first visitor, and actor Pankaj Tripathi became the guest of honour.
“For someone like me who belongs to the film world, this comes across as such a unique and different means of film exhibition. Having a concept like this, that too in a gorgeous location such as Leh, is incredible,” said Pankaj Tripathi.
“It offers affordable tickets and has several facilities. The seating arrangement is also good,” said Mepham Otsal, a theatre artist from the National School of Drama.

The Changpa Nomads of Ladakh’s widely renowned short film ‘Sekool’ was screened on the venue’s launch, directed by Stenzin Tankong. In addition, the film BellBottom, starring Akshay Kumar, is currently showing in Leh’s theatre.
In Leh, there could be four such locations. The initiative is being taken to bring the film spectacle to India’s most distant locations, and it may be expanded to the country’s unwinding. Theatres are connected so that they can work in temperatures as low as -28 degrees Celsius.
