Mattel has added a brand-new Role Models Doll to its Barbie collection: tennis sensation Naomi Osaka. According to the producer, Mattel, the Barbie, which stars the four-time Grand Slam champion in her 2020 Australian Open attire, sold out in a matter of hours after they released it on Monday for $29.99 a case.
The Naomi Osaka doll, designed by Carlyle Nuera, wears a Nike outfit identical to what she wore during the 2020 Australian Open, besides Nike sneakers, a visor, and a copy of her Yonex tennis racquet.
“I hope every child is reminded that they can be and do anything,” Osaka wrote on Twitter, expressing her gratitude for the partnership.
